Downey urges Rural Planning

IFA deputy president Eddie Downey has called for the establishment of a Rural Planning Forum to revitalise struggling rural communities that are experiencing emigration,job losses and social isolation.Speaking after a meeting with Minister of State for Educatiopn and Skills, Ciaran Cannon, Mr Downey said the loss of young people due to emigration was having a profound impact on the culture and sense of community in rural Ireland. James Doyle ,chairman of the Irish Rural Dwellers Accociation ,has also called for a full review of the existing rural planning guidelines,and for representation on An Bord Pleanala for rural communities.
