Consultation Paper on Co-operative Legislation

Co-operative Societies: Consultation on the Industrial and Provident Societies Acts 1893-2005

The Industrial and Provident Societies Acts, which apply mainly to co-operative societies, are being reviewed in connection with the Governments Better Regulation Programme. Views are invited from the public concerning the operation of the current legislation.

Comments are invited up to 30 June 2009 and the Rural Science Association is organising a Forum through which members can express their views on the issue which will enable a submission to be made by the Rural SA on the matter. As RSA members, do you consider that a more modern co-operative model would be a more useful tool in assisting sustainable economic, environmental and social development in Ireland?
