A commment on the website blog suggested a discussion group on Rural Litter. This is a real problem in many rural areas, particularly in areas, it seems of natural beauty. What are people's experiences?

Well here in beautiful

Well here in beautiful Fermanagh I am amazed at how people mistreat their environment. Main culprits seems to be take away litter strewn out of cars -usually at speed. Thus beauty spots are transformed after a weekend into a scene of utter despair. I live out in the country and I have found everything from filled nappies to an array of newspapers. I see significant difference from tipping things out without thought to deliberate fly tipping which alas has been a redolent feature of rural crime.

Rural Litter

Excellent idea Bernard all Rural areas are badly affected by Rural Litter, recently we as a community we were out on our scenic roads only to find everything from pieces of paper to TV's Childrens Buggies, dumped animals etc, we done some clean up but impossible to reach on it all. Our scenic viewing spot has its walls demolished. & neighbour farmers property used as dustbins from many an unmentional to chip bags

We are now coming into the Spring and the start of the National Spring Clean, www.nationalspringclean.org/ why not have the Rural Science Association get behind this encourage our members partake within their communities.
